PINELLAS COUNTY COUNCIL PTAs

REFLECTIONS 2008-2009 TIMELINE

This year's theme: “Wow!”

PTA believes that all children deserve a quality arts education, and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in the annual Reflections Program.  The theme this year will be “WOW!”   This is an opportunity to showcase your school’s talent in visual arts, musical composition, film/video, photography, dance choreography, and literature.

Only PTAs in good standing can participate in the Reflections Program.  By-laws must be current and a portion of membership dues paid by December 15th.  If you have questions on how to coordinate Reflections in your school, please feel free to contact Melissa Folks, Pinellas County Council PTA Reflections Chair.

SEPTEMBER:

Attend the Reflections Session of the PTA Workshop on September 6. Download the Reflections packet from the Florida PTA website with access rules and entry forms. Be sure to access all sections of the Local Unit Reflections Packet. In order to ensure accuracy of guidelines and acceptance of all entries, do not use old packets. The rules change slightly each year, so only this year's packet is accurate.

SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, NOVEMBER:

Conduct a Reflections program at your school. Involve all those who can promote the program like art, music, English, teachers, interested parents and community leaders. Ask judges to select entries to be forwarded to the County level. Judging and celebration are local unit decisions as long as National guidelines are used to select County entries.

NOVEMBER OR DECEMBER:

Dues must be paid by your local PTA to Florida PTA by December 15 to participate. We would encourage all schools to wrap up their local programs in November.

Friday, December 12, 2008 between 4p.m. and 7p.m.:

Local entries are dropped off at Gus Stavros Institute, 12100 Starkey Road Largo FL. Please make sure that all entries meet all criteria defined in the packet you received. We will not be able to accept any entries that do not meet specification. Each school is entitled to enter up to three entries per arts category by grade level:
